The largest mosque in the city, and a wonderful example of Islamic architecture. It was built in the medieval Fatimid tradition with the interior decorated with elaborate Arabic calligraphy. It is one of few mosques in the city open for visits by non-Muslims; the [http://www.cultures.ae/ Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding] conducts special tours for non-Muslims to help promote understanding of Islam.     Home away from home

    As a Muslim woman Dubai feels very comfortable. Everything is halal, mosques are everywhere, and modesty is respected. The shopping is incredible and the Burj Khalifa is breathtaking. The desert safari was the highlight. Its very safe - probably the safest city Ive been to. Downside is its very commercial and lacks cultural authenticity compared to other Middle Eastern cities. Also its HOT.

    Dubai est une ville impressionnante visuellement mais hostile pour la communauté LGBT. L'homosexualité est illégale aux Émirats. On a voyagé en tant qu'amis officiellement. Aucun geste d'affection possible. On a aimé le Burj Khalifa et le désert mais on ne se sentait pas libres d'être nous-mêmes. À éviter si vous cherchez l'authenticité de votre couple.

    Luxe mais attention aux codes culturels

    Dubai est impressionnante architecturalement. En tant que femme blanche voyageant seule, je me suis sentie en sécurité partout. Les malls sont climatisés et immenses. Mais attention : les démonstrations d'affection en public sont interdites, l'alcool est réglementé, et les tenues doivent rester correctes. C'est une destination luxe mais avec des règles strictes.
