Beautiful city but be street smart
Istanbul is absolutly stunning. The Hagia Sophia left me speechless. As an Indian woman traveling solo I got a LOT of attention from men which was uncomfortable at times. The carpet sellers are relentless. But the food omg - the kebabs, the baklava, the turkish breakfast. Stay in Kadikoy on the Asian side its much more chill. The Grand Bazaar is overwhelming but worth it.
Ville incroyable mais pas pour les couples gays
Istanbul est culturellement riche et la nourriture est exceptionnelle. Mais en tant que couple gay, on a dû faire attention. Pas de gestes d'affection en public, surtout dans les quartiers conservateurs. Beyoğlu est plus tolérant mais on sentait quand même une retenue. Le Grand Bazar et Sainte-Sophie valent le détour, mais soyez discrets.
Expérience mitigée avec le voile
Istanbul est une ville fascinante, à cheval entre deux continents. En tant que femme voilée, le côté asiatique (Kadıköy, Üsküdar) est très confortable. Le côté européen (Beyoğlu, Taksim) est plus libéral et j'ai senti des regards parfois. Mais globalement, la Turquie reste un pays musulman et on se sent chez soi dans les mosquées. La Mosquée Bleue est à couper le souffle.
